According to the Government’s Special Mission Group, as many as 21,975 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia and Laos have been repatriated so far. Of the number total, 1,656 sets have been identified.

At a meeting to review the gathering and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia and Laos in Hanoi on January 29, senior lieutenant general Nguyen Van Duoc, Deputy Minister of Defence and head of the Government’s Special Mission Group, spoke highly of the cooperation among ministries and sectors.


Senior lieutenant general Duoc stressed that search and repatriation activities will continue until there are no remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts left in Cambodia and Laos.


At the meeting, participants pointed out some solutions for pushing up the search for and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese martyrs in the 2006-2007 dry season and the coming years.
