Nearly 20 kg of suspected elephant tusks seized in Binh Dinh

VOV.VN - Local market management forces have joined with police in Binh Dinh province to catch and detain smugglers trying to transport 17.6 kg of suspected elephant tusks.

Police operating in Binh Dinh stopped a suspicious looking truck, registered 43S – 5971, before performing a search of the vehicle on October 15.

They successfully uncovered 17.6 kg of goods suspected to be elephant tusks hidden away in two styrofoam boxes.

The driver was soon identified as Nguyen Hoang Tuan of Danang. Upon being questioned, he failed to present any legal papers regarding the dispatch of the goods.

The case is currently under further investigation.
