Nearly 170 wild animals released into the wild in Phong Nha-Ke Bang

VOV.VN - Nearly 170 wild animals were released into the wild on April 2 in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park by the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Creature Development under the park’s Management Board, in coordination with the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Centre.

The release covered 17 species, with a total of 166 individual animals and 1.2 kg of snakes. The group included both common forest species and endangered, rare animals listed under Group IIB in Vietnam’s current regulations. Species of high conservation value included the great hornbill, Sa Nhan turtle, Nui Vang turtle, masked palm civet and white pheasant. All animals were handed over by competent agencies or voluntarily surrendered by local residents.

After being received, the animals were sent to the Hanoi Wildlife Rescue Centre for care and husbandry, with strict quarantine procedures to ensure their ability to adapt and survive once returned to the wild. Several species fall under the list of endangered, rare forest animals regulated by Government Decree No. 84 relating to the management and implementation of international conventions on trade in endangered species.

The release helps restore wildlife populations in forest ecosystems and raises public awareness of wildlife protection.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park will continue to coordinate with rescue centres to strengthen conservation, restoration and development of wildlife species, as a contribution  to sustainable forest ecosystems while demonstrating its commitment to global biodiversity conservation.
