The two-day conference drew the participation of 300 delegates who are leaders and officers of the natural resources and environment sector, as well as representatives from relevant ministries and agencies.
Participants discussed measures to resolve shortcomings in the State management of natural resources and environment. They said the increasing number of industrial zones and population growth have caused environmental pollution. In addition, natural and mineral resources are being exploited in a wasteful manner while the sector is short of staff, particularly at the communal level from where often arise many complicated issues related to land and environment.
PM Dung emphasized on the important role of staff training and asked the sector to strengthen the State management of natural resources, especially land.
He also urged the sector to finalize zoning plans, promote administrative reform and reorganize its personnel apparatus in terms of both quantity and quality so as to ensure effective operations.
