Addressing the ceremony, which was also attended by Minister of Health Nguyen Quoc Trieu, the vice president spoke highly the institute’s achievements over the past 20 years and asked its officials to continue improving the quality of healthcare services.
Mrs. Doan emphasised that the institute should bring into play its tradition as a labour hero during the renewal period, promote the application of advanced technology and expand international relations.
As a key unit in the healthcare sector, the institute should apply advanced technology in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases, Mrs Doan said.
The institute has so far provided services to over 30,000 patients and completed six national-level, six ministerial-level and many grassroots-level research projects. It has also handed over advanced technology to cardiovascular centres and medical universities nationwide.
All of the doctors working at the cardiovascular institute hold a Postgraduate degree, half of them have PhD qualifications.
