National COVID-19 infection tally crosses 10 million

VOV.VN - The Health Ministry announced a further 39,334 new COVID-19 infections on April 8 across 62 provinces and cities throughout the country, bringing the national tally up to 10,135,789 infections since the beginning of the pandemic.

With the latest addition, the overall number of daily COVID-19 cases saw a decline of 6,551 cases from the previous day.

Hanoi continued to lead the nation in terms of new daily infections, with 2,897 cases, followed by Yen Bai and Bac Giang, with 2,115 and 2,052 cases, respectively.

Furthermore, the country reported 35 COVID-19 related deaths on the same day to bring the total number of fatalities up to 42,768.

Moreover, 60,609 cases were announced to have made a full recovery from the virus on the same day, thereby putting the total number of recoveries at 8,455,675 since the start of the pandemic.

At present, the nation has so far administered more than 208 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

According to details given by the Vietnam Ministry of Health, the first batch of nearly one million doses of COVID-19 vaccines for children aged five to 12, financed by the Australian Government, are expected to arrive in Vietnam on April 9.

The inoculation campaign for young people will be conducted following vaccine assessment. The second and third batches are set to arrive in Vietnam on April 13 and April 18.

This comes after the Vietnamese Government decided to buy 21.9 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 12.
