He made the call at his reception for Protestant pastors and dignitaries from the Executive Boards of the General Confederation of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam in the south and the Evangelical Church of Vietnam in the north in
Mr Trong reiterated that the Party and the State have always considered religion to be an essential spiritual need of the masses and religious followers as an integral part of the national solidarity bloc.
Mr Trong told the dignitaries that there were positive results in religion-related activities after the Decree on Religions was stipulated and the Government's instructions on Protestant-related affairs were publicised.
Religious followers, including Protestants, upholding the tradition of patriotism, have actively participated in social activities while practising their faith, the NA Chairman said.
The two churches have made constructive contributions to nation building in accordance with their Statute and Charter, the Chairman added.
