NA leader meets female ambassadors, chief representatives

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has met female ambassadors and chief representatives of international organizations in Vietnam in observance of the International Women’s Day (March 8).

At the meeting in Hanoi on March 5 attended by President Tran Dai Quang, the top legislator wished the guests all the best and expected that the group of female parliamentarians will work harder to enhance the role of Vietnamese women during the process of sustainable development and international integration.

“It’s fortunate for Vietnam to receive heartfelt support from the international community, represented by female ambassadors and chief representatives of international organizations in Vietnam. Vietnam learns experience from other countries and is assisted with resources and technologies to boost its international integration and achieve the millennium development goals by 2030," Ngan said.

Underlining Vietnam’s efforts in realising sustainable development goals (SDG) adopted by the United Nations in September, 2015, she said the Vietnamese NA has been promoting its role in promulgating, amending and supplementing related-legal documents in order to create appropriate legal foundation and integrate the SDGs in decisions and long- and medium-term and annual socio-economic development plans. The NA also strengthens the supervision of the implementation of the goals.
The NA leader welcomed outcomes of the group over the past time, hoping the group will further intensify practical activities with new action plans and various forms to contribute to raising the role of the Vietnamese women as well as female NA deputies in the process of sustainable development and international integration, turning words into action and realizing SDGs.

She used this opportunity to thank assistance from the international community for Vietnam, saying that through female ambassadors and heads of international organisations’ representative offices, Vietnam was provided with lessons from other countries, resources and technology to accelerate its integration and implement millennium development goals and SDGs.

Chairwoman Ngan said she hoped that the female representatives will inspire the next generation of women to achieve the goal of equality and advancement for all.
