Myanmar suspends sending workers to Malaysia
Myanmar’s Labour Department said on December 7 the sending of workers to Malaysia will be suspended indefinitely following protests there against Myanmar administration.

The suspension took effect on December 6.
Recently, numerous demonstrations held by Malaysian religious organisations and political parties have taken place in front of the Myanmar embassy in Malaysia. They were seen as putting pressure on Myanmar in relation to the situation in Rakhine state.
Tension has increased in Rakhine State after attacks by armed men on three border posts on October 9, killing five soldiers and eight policemen.
The incident has prompted the government to set up an investigation commission led by First Vice President U Myint Swe.
The commission is to probe violent attacks and ensure regulations and laws are observed to avoid similar incidents.
It is tasked to propose measures to restore stability in Rakhine and to report to Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw before January 31, 2017.
