Around US$910,700 in non-refundable aid will be provided for needy students in 22 provinces this month.

The financial provision was agreed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan and World Bank Country Director for Vietnam Victoria Kwakwa in a meeting early this month.

The funding will be given to 11 provinces which suffered serious consequences from the recent floods and storms, and 11 mountainous provinces inhabited by ethnic minority groups.

The amount will be spent on clothing, books, notebooks and writing utensils.
