More than 8,000 Vietnamese and foreign runners took part in the 14th Terry Fox Run at the Phu My Hung New Residential Area in Ho Chi Minh City on November 28.

The run was organised by the Canadian General Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, the municipal Union of Friendship Organisations, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian International School

All money raised at the run will be donated to the Ho Chi Minh City Cancer Centre.

Terry Fox was a Canadian youth who was diagnosed with bone cancer when he was 18 years old. With one artificial leg, he ran for 143 days to raise funds for bone cancer research. He died in 1981 after four years of struggling against the disease.
