More than 180,000 graduates unemployed in Q2
The number of unemployed university graduates grew sharply in the second quarter of 2017, while the country’s unemployment rate declined slightly compared with the previous quarter, according to data of the Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs.

The unemployment rate in the Mekong River Delta and southeastern provinces reached 2.95 percent and 2.65 percent , respectively. The northern midlands and mountainous region and Central Highlands, registered the lowest unemployment rate, at 0.95 and 1.05, respectively.
About 24.5 percent of the unemployed have been out of work for more than 12 months.
Dao Quang Vinh, Director of the Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs, blamed the high unemployment rate among holders of university and higher degrees on low demand in the business sector in the second quarter. A lack of working experience also causes high unemployment among new graduates, he said.
