Millions get active in celebration of Vietnam Sports Day

VOV.VN - An estimated seven million runners nationwide have celebrated Vietnam Sports Day (March 27) by participating in an Olympic Day Run designed to get people ‘off the couch’ and moving—regardless of age, gender or ability.

An estimated 7,000 people in Hanoi took part in the run on March 26 around Hoan Kiem Lake with many prominent figures in attendance, most notably of which, was President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Deputy Minister Le Khanh Hai of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was also on hand along with numerous other officials from the ministry and representatives from other ministries, agencies, organizations and the armed forces.

The event was part of the activities celebrating Vietnam Sports Day (March 27) and the 70th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal for mass participation in sports activities (March 27, 1946-2015).
