The memorial service will take place at a Vietnam-Lao cemetery in Anh Son District. A special cultural programme highlighting the traditional friendship between the two countries will be broadcast live on VTV1 at 20h on October 24.

Speaking at the press conference, Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said that the event reflects the Vietnamese people’s deep gratitude towards the soldiers who fought for the independence of Vietnam and Laos and aims to strengthen ties between the two countries.

The press conference was held by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the General Political Department under the Ministry of Defense and the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee.
