A sizable representation of the around 50,000 Vietnamese residents in Montreal, Canada, gathered at a meeting organised by the Vietnamese Embassy on April 10.

At the meeting, Ambassador Le Si Vuong Ha said that the intellectual potential of Vietnamese residents in Canada is vast, and called on them to contribute back to the development of the homeland, considering it as a good way to strengthen great national unity and consolidate friendship between Vietnam and Canada.

Mr Ha added that the Vietnamese community in Montreal has held a wide range of activities to assist their compatriots at home.

Representatives of intellectuals and businesspeople in Montreal delivered presentations on the operations of the Canada-Vietnam education network, the Vietnamese intellectuals and businesspeople association in Canada, and the Canada-Vietnam support fund. They reaffirmed that they are willing to serve as a bridge to boost educational, cultural and economic relations between Vietnam and Canada.

Ambassador Ha, who recently took office, also met with representatives of Vietnamese communities in Ottawa and Toronto.
