Dr. Binh, President of the Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa) emphasised this at a seminar on the role of information technology in the country’s development, which was jointly held by the Party Commission for Information and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Vinasa in Hanoi on April 23.

To achieve this target, Dr. Binh said Vietnam needs qualified human resources to meet the demands of domestic business.

Addressing the seminar, MIC Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong said the Party and State have attached great importance to the development of the information and communication technology by introducing favourable policies.

However, to meet its development requirements, Vietnam should pay more attention to developing infrastructure for the sector and provide people with more convenient access to services.

Professor Dang Huu, former Head of the Party Commission for Information and Education, said that developing information and communication technology is indispensable because it is used in almost all organizations and businesses, as well as in people’s daily lives.

Vietnam is making every effort to become a strong IT country by 2020 with a developed E-government, an IT sector contributing 8 to 10 percent of the national GDP, and the country listed among the world’s top 10 software producers.
