Major cities clogged by traffic as holidays begin

VOV.VN -Traffic chaos descended on the major streets of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on April 26 as people look to get away during the five-day break.

Hoards of people began to leave Ho Chi Minh City at 15:00, causing huge congestion in the process on many roads leading to Mien Dong (Eastern) coach stations, including Dinh Bo Linh street, National Highway 13, Nguyen Xi street, and Xo Viet Nghe Tinh street.
Vehicles could barely move on the bridges, leading towards the station.
The density of the traffic causes a man to fall off his motorbike.
Despite being forced to carry lots of luggage, many people decided it was quicker to walk through the sea of vehicles in order to get to the station.
A woman carrying her daughter was forced to walk one km to avoid being late.
Crowds of waiting people gather at the bus station.

Huge numbers of passengers, mainly students and labourers, flock to the My Dinh bus station in Hanoi.
Many were forced to wait for hours to get a bus home. The station put on an additional 250 buses to meet the increased demand.

A woman and her crying child had to wait for three hours to get on their coach.

Long lines of vehicles and motorcycles caused widespread congestion on Belt Road 3.
Several key roads leading towards Nuoc Ngam bus station, such as Giai Phong, Kim Dong, Phap Van, Ngoc Hoi, and Pham Hung streets were completely jammed.
Vehicles were only able to move at a snail's pace on Phap Van highway at 20:00.
