Low pressure area to enter East Sea, develop into storm

VOV.VN - A low pressure system will enter the East Sea over the next three days and is likely to develop into the second storm to affect Vietnam this year, according to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

Forecasters said the low pressure system will move to the north of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago in the direction of south-central coastal areas. However, it will not impact the mainland.

Le Thanh Hai, deputy director of the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting said the weather models for Vietnam show the potential for a storm developing during the Lunar New Year festival (Tet) but it will not make landfall over the mainland and is likely to weaken into a tropical low pressure at sea.

At present, the Forecasting centre is closely monitoring the low pressure system as many boats and vessels are operating in the southern coastal areas at this time. The southern region will not be affected by the weather system, according to meteorological experts.
