Key officials of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province are attending on-site training courses on the public service model in Singapore – a nation known over the world for its high performance in the field.

This is the first time the three consecutive courses are designed for leaders in the services sector, as well as those of districts and towns in the southern coastal province. The first course began on August 17.

During an eight-day course, trainees and lecturers from Singapore will discuss how to target goals and develop and manage human resources in public administration, and learn about Singapore’s State management, general trends in public policy, the philosophy of a pure and upright state, e-government, and the future of public services in the 21st century.

Although there are differences between the two countries in state management and technical infrastructure, as well as the skill-sets possessed by officials, the course is expected to help provincial officials and public servants become more self-aware and resourceful in dealing with procedures and complaints from those they serve, said Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Minh Sanh.

Earlier, the Ministry of Public Affairs dispatched key officials from provinces and cities nationwide to Singapore to learn the country’s public service model. Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has sent three missions to Singapore since 2007.
