The TV programme was jointly held by the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU), the Lao Women's Union and the Vietnam Television to celebrate the 76^th founding anniversary of the VWU, the 45^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos and the 30^th signing anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.

The programme featured the strong attachment between the Vietnamese and Lao women, as well as their contributions to maintaining and developing the traditional friendship and special solidarities between the two nations.

Present among participants in Hanoi were Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung, state Vice President Truong My Hoa, officials from the Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, departments and organisations, and Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Bounthone Sengkhammy.

Participants in Vientiane included Lao Permanent Deputy PM Somsavath Lengsavad, officials from various Lao ministries and departments and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, Nguyen Huu Quang.
