Laos returns remains of Vietnamese soldiers

VOV.VN - The remains of 16 Vietnamese soldiers killed in the Vietnam-US War were received on January 11 in Dien Bien Province with the usual military honours, according to provincial authorities. 

Only two of the 16 sets have been positively identified. All the soldiers remains will be interred at the Tong Khao Cemetery located in the village of Thanh Nua in the district of Dien Bien.

At the reception services, Le Van Quy, vice chair of Dien Bien Province, praised the soldiers for their dedicated service and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of Vietnam and Laos.

2,223 sets of martyrs’ remains were found and reburied  in 2016, together with three collective martyrs’ graves, fulfilling 74% of the set target for the year, reported the National Steering Committee for Search and Collection of Martyrs’ Remains during a conference in Hanoi on January 10.
