Laos on September 25 presented 17 Freedom Orders, 19 Labour Orders and 21 medals to specialists of Radio the Voice of Vietnam in recognition of their contributions to Laos’ broadcasting industry.

Lao Minister of Information and Culture Mounkeo Oraboun pinned the honours on 57 of the VOV specialists who had been sent to help Laos develop the broadcasting industry during the past years.

On behalf of the recipients, Le Quy, former Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Radio and Television Commission, thanked the Lao People’s Democratic Republic for the distinctions which he described as a great honour to VOV staff.

VOV Director General Vu Van Hien spoke highly of the effective cooperation between the two national radios in the past years and hoped that they should continue to bring into play their achievements in the coming years.

In recent years, VOV has sent many reporters, editors and technicians to help the Lao National Radio build transmitting stations and produce daily programmes. For its part, the Lao National Radio has sent its specialists to work at VOV’s Lao language broadcasting section.

The two national radios have signed a number of documents to identify cooperation orientations in the coming years.

Earlier, Mr Oraboun called on VOVNews to explore operations of VOV’s online newspaper.
