Laos donates aid to HCM City’s COVID-19 fight

VOV.VN - Laos’ Attapeu province has donated LAK100 million (US$8,200) to Ho Chi Minh City to support the Vietnamese locality in combating COVID-19.

Phimpha Keomixay, Consul General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City, handed over the sum to To Thi Bich Chau, chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Ho Chi Minh City Chapter, at a ceremony on October 28.

Keomixay expressed her belief that Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular would soon control the pandemic and continue to carry out socio-economic development activities in the new normal.

She also hoped that the Vietnamese side would continue cooperation programmes under signed agreements with Laos, including a 2021-2025 cooperation agreement between Ho Chi Minh City and Vientiane, so as to bring practical benefits to the two localities.

For her part, Chau thanked the Lao province for its assistance, noting despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries and localities have supported each other’s COVID-19 fight, expecting to soon bring the pandemic under control.

She affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to carry out agreed cooperation agreements with Lao localities as soon as the outbreak is contained in both countries.
