After progressing through demanding qualifying and group-stage rounds, eight teams advanced to the quarter-finals of the Vietnam Robot Creation Contest (Robocon Vietnam 2026). With a successful “Kung Fu Master” run completed in 2 minutes and 6 seconds, LH-FOF defeated SKH-AST from Hung Yen University of Technology and Education, securing the championship title.

This year’s competition carried the theme “Kung Fu Quest,” inspired by traditional martial arts, combining Eastern fighting spirit with modern robotics and automation challenges. Teams were required to simulate a journey of training and overcoming obstacles to become a “Kung Fu Master.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tang Cuong, head of the Robocon Vietnam 2026 judging panel, described this year's theme as an engaging challenge that encourages students to develop diverse engineering solutions in an era increasingly shaped by AI, robotics and automation.

Robocon helps students cultivate critical problem-solving skills by designing practical solutions for real-world conditions and applying artificial intelligence in manufacturing, programming and automation processes, he said.

Over the past 24 years, the Asia-Pacific region's largest engineering competition for university students has produced generations of engineers who now work in factories, laboratories and research centres across Vietnam and around the world.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Thang, vice rector of Hung Yen University of Technology and Education, shared that the competition helps students develop essential soft skills, making them more confident and better prepared for the job market after graduation.

Beyond technical knowledge, the contest also inspires young people to pursue science, innovation and technology.

Vietnam has won the prestigious ABU Robocon championship seven times in the competition's 24-year history, an achievement that reflects the country's strong tradition in robotics. All seven titles were claimed by two universities with the strongest Robocon programmes in Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, with three championships, and Lac Hong University, with four.
