Kon Tum steps up measles vaccination campaign amid surge in cases
VOV.VN - The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum has launched a measles vaccination campaign in response to a sharp rise in cases.

The province aims to achieve 95% two-dose vaccine coverage by the end of March for eligible individuals, following guidelines set by the Government and the Ministry of Health.
Over the past three months, Kon Tum has recorded 728 measles cases, an increase of 722 compared to the same period last year.
According to Do Ngoc Hoa, deputy director of the Kon Tum provincial Department of Health, the measles vaccination rate among children aged one to five has reached 97.3%. The coverage rate stands at 98.3% for high-risk medical staff, while 62.1% of children aged six to nine months have been vaccinated.
Measles is a highly contagious disease that can lead to serious complications, including middle ear infections, pneumonia, diarrhea, corneal ulcers that may cause blindness, and encephalitis, which can be fatal.
Currently, there is no specific treatment for measles, making vaccination the most effective method of prevention.
