KOIKA aids pilot vocational exam in Vietnam

A pilot exam for national vocational certificates kicked off in Hanoi on March 26 with the technical and financial support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The exam is being held at Hanoi Vocational College for Electro-Mechanics and two other colleges in Ho Chi Minh City and Vinh city of central Nghe An province until April 12.

The exam serves as a benchmark to evaluate vocational skills and competence of Vietnamese workforce. It also helps the country to develop high-quality technical human resources.

KOICA has provided US$1.5 million for a project to establish a vocational skill rating and certification system in Vietnam in the 2012-2013 period.

The system is expected to help Vietnam manage human resources effectively and improve capacity for technical workforce, thus boosting the country’s socio-economic development as well as increasing its position in the international arena.
