Local authorities also granted VND300,000 to each of the 2,235 poor Khmer households in the province to help them enjoy the Sene Dolta festival, one of their largest traditional festivals.

The festival is celebrated annually by Khmer people in Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang and An Giang provinces to give thanks for bumper harvests.

Tra Vinh, together with Soc Trang, is home to the largest population of Khmer people in Vietnam, who have contributed greatly to the country's past struggle for national independence as well as its current construction process.
