Pa Uon bridge, a key bridge spanning the Da river in the northwestern province of Son La, got its final link on April 18.
Construction of 98 metre high abutments, the highest in the country, started in May 2007 and the bridge is expected to open to traffic in July this year.

The 918 m long, 9m wide bridge was designed at an estimated capitalisation of VND740 billion (US$43.5 million) invested by the Ministry of Transport.

Addressing the ceremony on April 18, Transport Minister Ho Nghia Dung said the project will create a nearest link between the two northwestern provinces of Son La and Lai Chau to meet the needs for socio-economic development and national defence in the region.
