A job festival was held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 5, drawing the participation of crowds of local students.

The event was organized by the HCM City University of Economics in coordination with Onlinejobs.vn.

Forty leading employers took part in the festival needing to fill 300 positions for 8,500 workers, focusing on such fields as finance-banking, consumer goods, consultancy, trade, medicine, information technology and services.

Over 12,600 application forms were sent to businesses. Of them, 3,690 candidates met the requirements and will be interviewed for the second round.

HCM City now has about 4.9 million workers. Every year 55,000-60,000 students graduate from universities and colleges. But recent graduates face difficulties in finding jobs due to a lack of foreign language skills and other skills needed to perform in the modern work place.
