Under the project, Cho Ray hospital’s rehabilitation services for traumatic brain injuries and cerebrosvacular accidents will be enhanced with JICA’s technical assistance. JICA will also transfer knowledge and techniques to other hospitals in southern Vietnam.
A handbook on rehabilitation will be published to help patients and their families with continued rehabilitation after being discharged from hospital. The handbook will provide detailed information on how to take care of patients at home and how to do appropriate exercises.
Although rehabilitation is one of the most important medical tasks, it has hasn’t received much attention in recent years, says Cho Ray Hospital director Nguyen Truong Son.
“With JICA’s assistance, medical staff of the Rehabilitation Department of Cho Ray hospital has been presented with new techniques in physical and occupational therapy as well as knowledge on diagnosis and the application of appropriate treatment regime” says JICA Chief Representative Tsuno Motonori.
