A project is underway to train forest rangers from 23 cities and provinces in the northwest, northeast, north central, south central and central highlands regions.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) have signed a deal to increase the effectiveness of planning and carrying out afforestation projects.

The project, at a total cost of US$2 million, will be carried out in the first quarter of next year and will last for three years in total.

The trainees will be provided with the necessary skills to make reports, conduct feasibility studies and carry out afforestation projects in Vietnam.

The reports will be collated and used in official training manuals for the forestry sector, which will help to increase the skills of forest rangers around the country.
