The NIIGATA International Volunteer Centre of Japan on August 23 granted 60 scholarships to disadvantaged, gifted students attending colleges and universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Following this batch of scholarships, the NIIGATA centre will present another 21 scholarships valued at 210,000 Japanese Yen for first-year students who recorded high-ranking entry scores for universities in the city.


The grants are part of the NIIGATA centre's annual scholarship programme for tertiary education. There are six different categories, benefiting females, ethnic minorities, and those wishing to study medicine, history and Oriental studies.


The NIIGATA centre has operated in Vietnam for nine years and has donated over 5.7 million Japanese Yen for various scholarships.
