Japanese Asahi newspaper ran a number of pictures and an article in praise of the pure beauty of the Mekong Delta region, especially the two Vietnamese cities of Can Tho and My Tho.

The author said that he was deeply impressed by local people busily trading on the river. All activities take place on small boats, which carry a lot of special fruits and basic commodities. My Tho and Can Tho are very famous for ancient pagodas and churches, especially churches of the Cao Dai sect.

The author revealed a lively picture of local people working in the rice fields, women wearing white traditional long dress (Ao Dai) at wedding ceremonies and some busy streets thronged with young people riding bikes and motorbikes.

The author recommended My Tho and Can Tho as the two places of interest to Japanese readers.
