Japan will help Vietnam’s customs officers to acquire the ability to effectively develop risk management towards international standard.
A document to this effect was signed in Hanoi on January 29 by representatives from the Vietnam General Department of Customs and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Under the three-year regional cooperation project, Japan will send experts to Vietnam to transfer technology relating to risk management and welcome Vietnamese customs officials study tour in Japan.
The project, within the cooperation framework between Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan, will include the implementation of risk management action plan for customs clearance, post clearance audit and prevention of smuggling; the arrangement of customs risk management procedures for central and local profiling; and development of database for risk management.
