Japanese Consulate General Mizuki Ikuo on January 21 cut the ribbon on a Japanese language study lab in HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, using US$67,632 funding from the Japanese Consulate.

With 48 sets of computers and headphones and microphones, the lab will facilitate Japanese language and culture studies for students, said Ikuo.

“The opening of this new lab is significant because we have just upgraded Japanese studies into a faculty, with bachelor, master and doctoral curricula, from Asian studies,” said the university’s rector Vo Van Sen.
