Japan builds classrooms for Vietnamese pupils
(VOV) - Japan has provided US$243,000 in non-refundable aid to upgrade two schools in Nam Dinh and Thanh Hoa provinces.
A document to this effect was signed in Hanoi on June 14 between Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yasuaki Tanizaki and leaders of the two provinces.
Goi Primary School in Nam Dinh province was built in 1980 with an initial six classrooms. The limited space had forced pupils to study at a cultural house 500m away from the school. All exisiting classrooms have aged poorly, impacting pupils’ health and safety.
Built in 1978, Yen My Junior Secondary School, in Thanh Hoa province suffered from a similar classroom shortage, meaning some students studied at a farm 4km away from the school’s buildings.
Ambassador Yasuaki Tanizaki expressed hope the donation will help improve the quality of the education available to local students, eventually leading to better human resources and more successful national development.
