An internationally renowned research group will assist Vietnam and 12 other countries to conserve tigers, said the World Conservation Union (IUCN) following a study of the tiger’s living environment.
Nearly 150 tigers are scattered across 14 nature reserves in Vietnam, according to the country’s forestry department. They mainly live in dry jungles south of the Central Highlands and in the middle of Truong Son Mountain Range. About 40 individuals inhabit northern and southern Truong Son areas.
Scientists also found evidence of another 10 tigers living in the northwestern region close to Laos.
Vietnam’s Truong Son Mountain Range adjacent to Laos has been assessed as an ideal conservation area for the local tiger population.
