Ms Khiet made the statement at a ceremony to mark the 97th International Women’s Day (March 8) and the 1967th anniversary of an uprising led by the Trung Sisters against Chinese aggressors. The ceremony was held by the Vietnam Women’s Union Central Committee, drawing the participation of representatives from relevant ministries, agencies and international organisations.
Addressing the ceremony, Ms Khiet emphasized that the International Women’s Day is closely associated with the uprising led by the Trung Sisters, which is a significant event to promote the tradition of struggling for peace of women in the world. The event also upholds the tradition of “Heroism, undauntedness, faithfulness and responsibility for housework” of Vietnamese women in the resistance war as well as the tradition of “Dynamism, creativity, faithfulness and responsibility for housework” in the new period.
The same day, many activities were held at the Centre for Women and Development including exchanges, international fashion shows, traditional costumes, and tennis competitions, especially a painting contest for men who want to express their gratefulness and respect to their mothers and wives.
