International student enrollment rises at University of Da Nang

The University of Da Nang (UDN) in the central coastal city of the same name has seen an increase in the number of foreign students over the past years, heard a year-end gathering for international students on December 30.

The university witnessed a 30% increase in international student enrollment for the 2023-2024 academic year, with 502 full-time international students now studying across its campuses. Additionally, more than 1,000 international students participated in short-term programmes, including cultural exchanges, internships, and specialised training courses.

Over the recent past, the education establishment has become a trusted destination for students from 24 countries, with significant representation from Canada, China, France, Laos, Lithuania, Nigeria, the Republic of Korea, and the US.

The University of Science and Education, a member institution of the UDN, is currently hosting the largest number of international students among all affiliated schools.

UDN Deputy Director Le Quang Son said the international student recruitment is not just about economic benefits, it is about shaping up an international learning environment that enhance the university’s reputation and academic quality. Therefore, many higher education institutions have made efforts to lure foreign students.

The UDN offers a comprehensive range of programmes for international students, including undergraduate, doctoral programme and master’s programmes, Vietnamese language preparation courses, short-term cultural exchange programmes, and research opportunities.

On this occasion, outstanding international students were honoured for their academic achievements and contributions to campus life. The event also featured the presentation of scholarships to Vietnamese students through a partnership between the UDN and MyTeams, an Australian company.
