Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, honourable president of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) on March 11 received VND90 million from Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Sun Guoxiang.

The money was raised by the Chinese Embassy to help Vietnamese Agent Orange victims improve their living conditions and integrate into society.

Mrs Binh said although the war has been over for many years, its consequences linger. The lives of the AO victims remain difficult. They need support from the whole society and international friends.

Mr Guoxiang expressed his hope that the embassy can bring experts of the two countries together to find better treatment and rehabilitation measures for AO victims and committed to support their struggle for justice.

On the same day, VAVA also received US$2,000 donated by the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland.

*** Vice President and General Secretary of VAVA Tran Xuan Thu said that the association is gearing up for a lawsuit against US chemical companies. The association’s friends in the US will ask the US congress to enact a bill supporting AO victims.
