The Global Youth Leadership Summit was held at United Nations headquarters in New York from October 29-31 to tackle development challenges.
Delegates to the summit highly appreciated the achievements made by Vietnamese young people in materializing eight Millenium Development Goals (MDGs), said Pham Thi Thanh Nhung and Nguyen Tien Phong, who represented Vietnam at the event.
They adopted a statement on their commitments to achieving MDGs, including poverty alleviation, education development, gender equality and joint efforts to combat HIV/AIDS.
The statement called on the governments to fulfil their commitments to achieving MDGs by 2015 as they made at the 2000 Summit of the United Nations General Assembly.
