This opinion was shared by officials from the Government Office, the Ministries of Public Health, Natural Resources and Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development at a meeting of the National Steering Board for Bird Flu Prevention in Hanoi on August 1.

The participants mentioned various solutions for controlling and stamping out any outbreaks as well as closely supervising and disinfecting areas formerly hit by the diseases.

The meeting was convened due to the threat of bird flu outbreak in Vietnam after neighboring countries such as Laos, Thailand, Indonesia and China announced its return.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam has successfully kept bird flu under control over the past eight months. The last outbreak was reported on December 15 last year in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang.
