Indian Naval Ship visits Haiphong

(VOV) - The Indian naval ship INS Shivalik carrying more than500 officers and crew anchored at Chua Ve port in Haiphong city on August 5.

During their stay in Vietnam from August 5-8, they will pay a courtesy visit to Haiphong leaders, provide technical support for Vietnamese naval soldiers, and offer medical check-up and gifts to orphans and disabled pupils.

They will also conduct cultural and sports exchanges with students at Vietnam Maritime University.

India has sent naval ships to Haiphong since 1958.The city has welcomed 6 Indian naval ships since 2008. The latest visit took place in 2012 by INS Shivalik and INS Karmuk with 427 officers and crew.

However, Indian investments into Haiphong remain modest with only two projects worth US$10.48 million.
