Inaccurate content about Vietnam in MH370 documentary removed from Netflix
VOV.VN - Streaming platform Netflix moved to take down episode 1 of the documentary “MH370: The Plane that Disappeared” on the evening of April 13 due to inaccurate content about Vietnam.
At present, only Episode 2 "The Hijack" and Episode 3 "The Intercept" of the documentary series are still available on Netflix.
The three-part documentary debuted on Netflix in March, coinciding with the ninth anniversary of the aircraft MH370's disappearance.
In 2014 Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 vanished while en route from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China, along with all 239 passengers on board. Nine years later, a global community made up of family members, scientists, investigators, and journalists are still searching for answers.
Following the release of the series, Vietnam demanded on April 6 that the maker of "MH370: The Plane That Disappeared" correct claims alleging that Vietnamese authorities were "uncooperative" during the search for the missing aircraft.
Pham Thu Hang, deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during a press briefing held on April 6 in Hanoi that in the immediate aftermath of the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 in March, 2014, the Vietnamese authorities had prepared a thorough response plan. This is along with sharing information, co-ordinating with Malaysia and other countries to conduct a wide-scale search and rescue, and supporting foreign journalists on reporting on the incident.
“We demand the film production company and maker accurately reflect the country’s contributions to the search and rescue operations for Flight MH370 of Malaysia and remove, amend the inappropriate contents,” the deputy spokeswoman stressed.
