Vietnam’s ambassador to Italy and representative to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Nguyen Van Nam and IFAD President Lennart Bage have signed a deal on implementation of a market improvement project for poor people in Ha Tinh and Tra Vinh provinces.

The project will be implemented in five years from 2007 with total funding of US$37.7 million. The aims is to sustainably improve incomes for poor people in Ha Tinh and Tra Vinh provinces by providing loans for households and small-and medium-sized enterprises capable of bringing benefits for the poor.

Mr Lennart Bage expressed his belief that Vietnam will successfully implement the project and become a model for developing countries.
