HSBC Vietnam said on June 10 that it has implemented an aid package of VND1.9 billion for projects under the Future First programme in the 2010-2011 period to help non-profit organisations reach street children, orphans, and underpriviledged children who need education and essential life skills.

Future First is a five-year programme (2007-2012) which has been implemented by the Global Education Trust (GET) under the auspices of HSBC. Over the past three years, GET has earmarked more than US$434,600 for 13 education, vocational training and career orientation projects to support underprivileged in HCM City, Hanoi, Can Tho and other cities around the country.

Matthew Martin, Deputy Director and President of HSBC Vietnam's fund for sustainable development said that by enabling non-profit organisations in Vietnam to provide aid directly, HSBC Vietnam can support projects which bring long-term benefits to Vietnamese children and create an opportunity for them to access a brighter future.

In 2010, financing for these projects has come from HSBC Vietnam's fund for sustainable development, not from GET.
