Hoan Kiem District reveals big plans to go auto-free

VOV.VN - The Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee has announced big plans to expand the areas where it puts pedestrians first.

The Committee has announced ambitions to convert nine more streets into pedestrian havens with less vehicle, motorbike congestion and air pollution.

If approved by Hanoi city officials the bans would go into effect this October 1 and ban the aforementioned autos from 7:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon to 12:00 a.m. midnight on Monday morning.

The nine additional streets are Hang Chieu, Ngo Gach, Nguyen Sieu, Dao Duy Tu, Cau Go, Hang Bac, Dinh Liet, Gia Ngu and Trung Yen. If approved, the Committee has arranged for alternative parking for area residents.
