A scientific seminar was held in Hanoi on March 2 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26).

The seminar was attended by many scientists, youth union members through different periods.

Participants at the seminar heard more than 50 reports which affirmed the role of the HCM Communist Youth Union (HCYU) through different periods of history, and put forth young people issues in the renewal process to devise orientations for development in the future.

The reports also referred to issues surrounding building a strong youth union association in the current period, the role of the youth union in creating a learning society and the international integration of young people, as well as encouraging their enthusiasm for the country’s process of industrialization and modernization.  

Director of a research centre for education, environment and development Tran Van Mieu said that under the sound leadership of the Party, youth union organizations have made good contributions to the cause of national construction and defense over the past 80 years by actively promoting youth movements.

Delegates affirmed the role of young people in Party and State policies and urged them to become actively involved in emulation movements. Professor Hoang Chi Bao, member of the Party Central Committee’s Theoretical Council said that it is necessary to renew the content and methodology of youth work.
