The Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Huynh Thi Nhan, led a delegation to the municipal Buddhist Sangha on May 27 on the occasion of Lord Buddha’s 2554th birthday.

On behalf of the municipal authorities, Nhan extended congratulations to Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers.

She said that the socio-economic achievements the city has made can be attributed to the effort made by the city’s administration, Party committee and people, including the contributions made by Buddhists.

The municipal authorities highly value the charitable activities conducted by the Buddhists, she said, while expressing her hope that Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers would continue to contribute to the city’s development.

Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, the deputy head of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board and Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board, said that this year Buddha’s birthday coincides with the 120th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth and 1,000 years of Thang Long-Hanoi, two of the country’s most important events.
