Helping young children learn to protect themselves

VOV.VN - Every day brings new reports of adults in some position of responsibility who take advantage of the trust that children place in them, says musician Phuong Uyen, reports the VnExpress Online Newspaper.

This is why it’s vital to raise the awareness of parents of school-age children about the importance of what they should be doing to safeguard their kids from predators, says Uyen.

As part of his campaign to combat child abuse, Uyen composed a video titled Cho con tuoi tho specifically aimed at raising parents’ awareness of protecting their children from sexual exploitation.

An estimated 100 children and 26 artists participated in the production of the video, which will screen at the upcoming Children Fashion Week set for June 16-18 in Hanoi.

What protects a child best is a sense of self-worth, says Uyen, and the ability to know when he or she is being treated disrespectfully and courage to stand up and defend themselves.
